Who is a female inspiration/role model to you and why?
To me, every woman who is working hard to make something work is inspirational. I get inspired by qualities in women (and not famous personalities) I meet or see around me in everyday life. Any woman, who is empowering herself, has her priorities clearly defined, and working hard to achieve them, is inspirational. She could be a mother who faces daily challenges to bring up a newborn baby while juggling urgencies of her work and home; or a young, ambitious girl from a remote village making her mark in the unknown urban territory; or even a lady at the reception who has exchanged a pleasant smile with me despite having a stressful day at work – there could be hundreds of examples. All these women have a purpose in life, and they are working hard to achieve their ambitions.
Why does inclusion matter to you?
Inclusion is when one can feel a sense of belonging to a place or group. The aim of inclusion is - removing barriers to embrace people, irrespective of their race, gender, disability, medical or any other need. Personally, when I feel inclusive, I am motivated to work harder to do my best for the group to which I belong.
How are you inspiring women to achieve their ambitions at JLL?
I consider myself very fortunate to be associated with a progressive organisation like JLL for more than 15 years now. I am grateful that I have received a lot of encouragement and inspiration from both men and women at work and home, which has kept me going even through challenging times. I feel both gratified and obliged to nurture young professional women in our company and community. Therefore, I try and make a conscious effort every day, in each and every interaction, to approach people and situations with true altruism in my heart, creating growth opportunities for others. I share learnings from my journey in JLL, where I joined as a young, ambitious finance professional and climbed up the ranks to become a leader while mothering two growing children at home. A lot of professional women like me often go through difficult decisions between home and work at various stages in life, and very few persevere to reach the top league. If a woman has priorities clearly set and is ready to give it her best to achieve ambitions, trust me, there is no stopping. She can become an inspiration to many others!
