As the global technological landscape continues to evolve, India has emerged as a strong player on the world stage. With its robust economy, skilled workforce, and strategic governmental policies, India is poised to become a prominent player in the semiconductor industry. This report offers an analysis of the Indian semiconductor manufacturing sector, encompassing the gamut of demand, growth estimations, governmental initiatives, and major manufacturing locations. The global supply chain reorganisation or recalibration after a clog during the COVID times has triggered the manufacturing of semiconductors in India.

Advantage India

As demand for electronic devices continue to rise, the need for semiconductors has also increased significantly. India, with its large and rapidly growing population, is one of the largest consumers of electronic devices in the world. We explore the country's semiconductor demand and the potential benefits of meeting that demand with domestic production. This will provide an overview of the semiconductor industry in India, including an analysis of the current market size, growth potential and manufacturing climate.

Government initiatives

The Indian government has been taking significant strides to boost semiconductor manufacturing in the country, recognising the strategic importance of this industry for its economic growth and national security. In recent years, the government has launched several initiatives, policies, and programs aimed at promoting local manufacturing of semiconductors, as well as attracting foreign investment in this field. This report provides an overview of the government's efforts to support and increase semiconductor manufacturing in the country, highlighting key policies and programs. With the aim of reducing its reliance on imports, several states have implemented policies to incentivise the growth of the electronics industry. In this report, we examine the state-wise electronics manufacturing policies in India and compare them to enable decision making.
