India’s hospitality industry has witnessed a growth of 339.3% in RevPAR from April to June (Q2 2022) over the same period last year. Furthermore, the sector witnessed a 44.6% growth at pan-India level in RevPAR in Q2 2022 as compared to Q1 2022, on the back of summer holidays, weddings and MICE demand. Total no. of signings in Q2 2022 stood at 47 hotels with 4,010 keys, which is 90.9% more of rooms signed in Q2 2021. Domestic operators dominated signings over international operators with the ratio of 52:48 in terms of inventory volume.

The Hotel Momentum India (HMI) Q2 2022 outlines key insights from the sector including:

  • All six key markets continued to witness a y-o-y growth in RevPAR in Q2 2022 compared to Q1 2022 when the country was amidst the second wave of the pandemic

  • Goa remains the RevPAR leader in absolute terms in Q2 2022 compared to Q2 2021 on the account of 53.9%p increase in occupancy levels

  • Bengaluru saw the steepest increase in RevPAR in Q2 2022, with a 660.1% growth compared to the same period in the previous year
